چکیده

Abstract We investigate the characteristics of gamma-ray signal following decay MeV-scale Axion-Like Particles (ALPs) coupled to photons which are produced in a Supernova (SN) explosion. This analysis is first include production heavier ALPs through photon coalescence process, enlarging mass range that could be observed this way and giving stronger bound from observation SN 1987A. Furthermore, we present new analytical method for calculating predicted ALP decays. With can rigorously prove validity an approximation has been used some previous literature, show here valid only if all gamma rays arrive under extremely small angles (i.e. very close line sight SN). However, it also shows where not valid, offers efficient alternative calculate ALP-induced flux general setting when guaranteed small. estimate sensitivity Fermi Large Area Telescope ( -LAT) future nearby case non-observation current bounds on ALP-photon coupling g aγ strengthened by about order magnitude. Gamma-ray Burst -supernova Relation

There is growing evidence that long and hard gamma-ray bursts (GRBs), discovered at redshifts between 0.4 and 3.4, are related to some type of supernova (SN) explosions. The GRB ejecta are ultra-relativistic, and possibly beamed. There is a possibility that some SN ejecta are also beamed and/or relativistic. Prospects for farther advances guided by expected and unexpected observational developm...

Gamma Ray Bursts via emission of axion-like particles

The Pseudo-Goldstone Boson (PGB) emission could provide a very efficient mechanism for explaining the cosmic Gamma Ray Bursts (GRBs). The PGBs could be produced during the merging of two compact objects like two neutron stars or neutron star black hole, and then decay into electron-positron pairs and photons at distances ∼ 100− 1000 km. In this way, a huge energy (up to more than 10 erg) can be...

Polarization mesurements of gamma ray bursts and axion like particles

A polarized gamma ray emission spread over a sufficiently wide energy band from a strongly magnetized astrophysical object like gamma ray bursts (GRBs) offers an opportunity to test the hypothesis of axion like particles (ALPs). Based on evidences of polarized gamma ray emission detected in several gamma ray bursts we estimated the level of ALPs induced dichroism, which could take place in the ...

Axion-Like Particles, Cosmic Magnetic Fields and Gamma-Ray Astrophysics

Axion-Like Particles (ALPs) are predicted by many extensions of the Standard Model and give rise to characteristic dimming and polarization effects in a light beam travelling in a magnetic field. In this Letter, we demonstrate that photonALP mixing in cosmic magnetic fields produces an observable distortion in the energy spectra of distant gamma-ray sources (like AGN) for ranges of the ALP para...

The Supernova-Gamma Ray Burst Connection

Supernovae 1998bw and its corresponding relativistically expanding radio source are coincident with the γ-ray burst source GRB 980425. We show that of six recent SN Ib/c for which an outburst epoch can be estimated with some reliability, four have radio outbursts and all are correlated in time and space with BATSE γ-ray bursts. The joint probability of all six correlations is 1.5×10. No such co...
